Bipolar disorder, also known as manic-depressive illness, is a mental health condition characterized by extreme mood swings. It is characterized by periods of elevated or irritable mood, known as mania or hypomania, and periods of depressed mood. These mood swings can last for days, weeks, or even months and can have a significant impact on an individual’s ability to function in daily life.
There are several types of bipolar disorder, including:
