Locating Database Content Assignment (MIS605)
Assume you’ve recently been employed by Adventure Works Cycles for this task. You were requested to learn a little about the firm as part of the orientation process by reading the “Adventure Works Cycles Company Story.”
Your boss also wants you to learn about the information contained in the corporate database. To do so, you’ll need to use SELECT and FROM commands, as seen in the example below.
SELECT * FROM [Database] AS AN EXAMPLE.
Use SELECT and FROM statements to obtain the answers to each of the questions below in the data dictionary labeled “AdventureWorks Scripts for SQL Server,” which may be found in Course Materials. Answer the following questions using the SQL queries done in steps 15 and a Microsoft Word document that includes the SQL queries used to explore the database tables.
Please keep in mind that when SQL queries are conducted, data is created as a result. For a visual verification of accuracy, this data should be exported and saved to an Excel file.
Run a basic SELECT query on the “Person” table, as shown in the example. List all of the fields that are available, as well as the number of records in the table.
What table and schema would you look for information on an applicant’s resume?
When is the Chief Executive Officer’s birthday?
What is the “ListPrice” of the “HL Touring Seat Assembly” on the list?
Is there a preferred vendor for “Holiday Skate & Cycle”?
To submit to your instructor, combine the Excel data file with the Word document containing the SQL queries and answers to the questions into a.zip file.
Although the use of the APA style is not compulsory, good academic writing is anticipated.
The AdventureWorks sample databases are based on a fictitious corporation called Adventure Works Cycles, which is a major, worldwide manufacturing company. Metal and composite bicycles are manufactured and sold to commercial customers in North America, Europe, and Asia. While the company’s headquarters are in Bothell, Washington, with 290 workers, it has multiple regional sales teams spread across its market base.
Adventure Works Cycles purchased Importadores Neptuno, a small manufacturing facility in Mexico, in 2000. Several important subcomponents for the Adventure Works Cycles product range are manufactured by Importadores Neptuno. These subcomponents are delivered to a facility in Bothell for final assembly. Importadores Neptuno took over as the only manufacturer and distributor of touring bicycles in 2001.
Following a profitable fiscal year, Adventure Works Cycles is trying to expand its market share by targeting sales to its most loyal consumers, expanding product availability through an external website, and lowering sales expenses through lower production costs.
