Read Henry David Thoreau’s “Civil Disobedience” (1849) and briefly summarize his argument, making sure to answer the following questions. Does he believe that the rule of law is of the utmost importance, or are their laws that should not be obeyed? If so, which laws? Do you agree with his argument, or do you feel that his brand of individualism breeds lawlessness? Does Thoreau believe that individualism breeds lawlessness? How/why?

Watch Billy Wilder’s Double Indemnity (1944; Swank), Stanley Donen’s Singin’ in the Rain (1952; Swank), or Bong Joon-ho’s The Host (2006; Kanopy).. Assess how the filmmakers use genre and visual design. These questions should help:

5. Play around with the graphing app until you get a pretty bar graph or pie chart that looks like the pretty graphs in the book or on the internet. Therefore, use your book for help to place the headings and numbers in the correct place.
