Banks are heavily regulated by government agencies in order to ensure the stability and integrity of the financial system. The primary regulators of banks in the United States are the Federal Reserve, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).
