Hi Chloe! I love your sharing and I think we have the same ideas. you say that the presidential elections contained both legitimate and flawed democracies. In my response to the prompt, I claim that the first part of Weber’s argument which legal-rational authority is created by the rational individual can be verified by both the 2016 and 2020 elections; however, the second part of his argument which legal-rational authority can create the most stable authority is not supported by the 2020 election. You mention the terror attack on the capital in 2020 which is a powerful fact against Weber’s statement. In the last part of your response, you say that rules created by individuals are not always rational because they lead to turmoil. However, I think it is not because the people who design rules are irrational but the people who should follow the rule. They are the major reason for the great upheaval.
