You are producing a study of one of the characters in The Glass Menagerie for this short essay assignment. This character analysis paper should be at least 500 words long and divided into three parts.
Make sure you have the following in this short essay response: a thesis statement in the introduction, at least one body paragraph containing supporting reasoning, examples, and quotes from the play, and a conclusion paragraph The thesis statement should summarize your major point about the character you’ve chosen to analyze.
You can develop ideas by using the brainstorming questions below, or you can review the Week 3 discussion prompt for a refresher on how character is revealed. It’s fine to continue your character analysis in the discussion area for this essay project that you started this week.

Choose a character from The Glass Menagerie to play. Consider the following questions as you consider your character:
What is it that he or she desires?
What kind of conflict does this character have to deal with?
How do they go about obtaining their desire?
What’s holding them back from achieving it?
Is the character evolving or changing?
What will happen to this character towards the end of the play?
Develop your thesis statement after considering these issues.
The Statement of the Thesis
Choose two or three descriptive terms to define your character in order to construct your thesis statement. What key argument about the character could you defend in an essay based on these words? Your thesis statement is your view or judgment. Choose supporting evidence (quotations and instances from the play) for the body paragraph once you have your argument.
Include a title page, suitable font and spacing, in-text citations, and a separate references page using APA style.
