Assignment on Philosophy Figures
Instructions: Choose any philosopher from pp. 1272 who is mentioned in the text. You may choose a prominent philosopher mentioned in the text (but not the same one you discussed in Assignment #2). This philosopher in the attachment CANNOT possibly be Socrates, Plato, or Aristotle. Except for the three figures listed above, this philosopher must be one mentioned in the text. Alternatively, you could choose someone who is only mentioned briefly (such as Bertrand Russell on p. 254). There are four essential requirements.
1.The focus of your essay should be on thoroughly explaining the philosopher’s key ideas and contributions. 2. Discuss how this philosopher was influenced by other philosophers or events. 3. What impact has this philosopher had on others? 4. Finally, express your own opinion on the philosopher’s ideas. There are a total of seven peer-reviewed sources that must be used. Cite your sources. There are seven peer-reviewed sources, as well as the textbook and a powerpoint lecture note. Objectives: The following are the goals of assignments:
Identify and describe key concepts relevant to the assignment prompt’s theme.
Beyond the presentation of course material, delve deeper into philosophical ideas.
Examine course materials to develop a well-informed investigation of your viewpoints on a theme addressed in the assignment.
Investigate scholarly sources to aid in the exploration and expansion of students’ perspectives, as well as the development of critical thinking skills.
Create a compelling argument to back up your claim.
All sources must be properly referenced and cited.
The length of the assignment should be between 1500 and 1700 words.
