The goal of the graded collaborative discussions is to engage instructors and students in an engaging dialogue to help students organize, integrate, apply, and critically appraise advanced nursing practice knowledge. Scholarly material from reliable sources is necessary, as is professional communication. The examination and application of ideas, knowledge, and information learned and related to real-life professional circumstances is facilitated by applying information to professional experiences. As ideas, opinions, and knowledge are shared, meaningful discourse between instructors and students encourages the growth of a learning community.
Date of Submission
By Wednesday, 11:59 p.m. MT, the initial posting to the graded collaborative conversations is due. The deadline for peer and faculty responses is Sunday, 11:59 p.m. MT. All Week 8 postings must be submitted by Saturday, 11:59 p.m. MT, at the end of class. Please keep in mind that the collaborative conversations are exempt from the late assignment policy.
Criteria for discussion
I. Course Knowledge Application: The student post offers unique ideas or insights acquired from personal experience or examples from the healthcare profession. In addition to offering personal or professional examples, the student must accurately and completely describe the topic for the week. The student must answer the initial question completely.
II. Participation in Meaningful Dialogue: The student responds to a peer and the course faculty to continue the conversation.
a. Peer Response: At least one topic-related post by a student peer receives a significant response from the student. A substantive post offers knowledge or insights, or poses a question, to enhance the learning experience and/or spark conversation.
A post that just says “I agree” and then repeats the other student’s message does not qualify as a substantial post. A compilation of superficial posts is not the same as a substantive post.
The peer response must take place on a different day than the initial posting.
Before Sunday, 11:59 p.m. MT, the peer response must be sent.
Unless the content is summarized and/or direct quotes are used, the peer response does not require a scholarly citation and reference, in which case APA style requirements apply.

III. Evidence Integration:
A minimum of three (3) sources of support are included in the student post, which may be assigned readings, weekly module content, or extra academic sources. When a scholarly source is used, it must meet the following criteria: 1) it must be evidence-based, 2) it must be scholarly in nature, 3) it must have been published within the last 5 years, and 4) it must have an in-text citation. At least one source must be included in the student’s initial response to the graded discussion. When information is summarized/synthesized and/or direct quotes are used, APA style requirements apply, and responses to peers and/or instructors, citations, and references are given.
1. It is critical that students rely on literature for support, which is founded in the literature and provides sources pertinent to the discussion posting. One such source is the online weekly material.
2. Academic Resources
Throughout the week, two (2) academic sources should be used in the discussion board tasks.
Peer-reviewed journals are among them.
Textbooks aren’t regarded as scholarly resources. However, if specified in the assignment criteria or with instructor consent, textbook support may be used on a restricted basis in particular assignments when supplemented by extra scholarly materials.
Students may choose to use scholarly materials that are included in the weekly readings.
It is not recommended that you use Wikipedia, Wikis,.com websites, or blogs.
Unless they are historical or crucial references or have been allowed by your instructor, sources should be no more than five years old.
Sources of Literature:
The term “grey literature” refers to scholarly work that has not been peer-reviewed. These resources are usable, but they do not meet the criteria for peer-reviewed sources.
Refer to the assignment guidelines to see whether grey literature sources (e.g., professional organization websites, white papers) are eligible for discussions or assignments and will get you full credit for incorporating them in the paper or discussion.
Government reports are considered grey literature because they are not peer-reviewed because the government’s primary goal is not to publish literature.
Internet dissertation materials, which are a type of grey literature, add to the scientific level of this literature.
Papers prepared for Chamberlain College of Nursing should be the student’s own work, with no more than one short quotation every three pages or as specified in the assignment criteria. If at all possible, avoid using quotations.

IV. Communication Professionalism: The article delivers information in a logical, coherent, and understandable order, and it is clearly pertinent to the topic under discussion. The spelling, grammar, and/or punctuation are correct.
V. Wednesday Participation Requirement: By Wednesday, 11:59 p.m. MT, the student submits a significant response to the graded discussion question(s) or topic(s) issued by the course faculty (not a response to a peer).
VI. Total Participation Requirement: The student must make at least three meaningful posts (one to the initial question or topic, one to the second question or topic, and one to the third question or topic).
