A Place That I Remember as a Child
A place that I remember as a child is my grandparents’ beautiful home. I used to spend my summer vacation there with my brother when we were kids. It is a big house with a big backyard where I used to play all day long with my brother and my friends. I was impatient for every summer vacation. My grandparents live in a small country village. Their house is really quite and serene, surrounded by its own garden. . I remember the summer kitchen outside always smelled of my favorite food which is homemade bread (fresh bread that she baked in the oven). Only my grandmother can make it so delicious. I also loved the spoiled dog that they had and I used to play with it a lot. Every summer vacation there was other kids who stay with their grandparents for the summer vacation, as well. I had two best friends and we always spend the afternoons enjoying different games, drawing and just have fun in my grandparent’s home. As a perspective of a child I was very curious and I loved to spend the day looking at my grandfather old books and pictures. I loved their old fashioned furniture’s. It is because my parents have a modern house and we live in a big city.
Now when I grew up it is different. I love to spend some of my weekends in my grandparents place. It is no longer a place that I connect with games and just have fun, but a place to relax for a couple of days and have a great food. I feel very peaceful there. The large home seemed to grow small as I grew up. It is no longer a place to discover but a place to remember and enjoy my grandparent stories. Instead of playing games I prefer to relax. I like to see my friends and remember the old days when we used to spend a lot of time together. But as we grew up we changed our perspectives and we are no longer the little kids who used to play together.
My perspectives as a child and when I grew up changed a lot. Comparing both of them, I can see how the house of my grandparents that I used to spend my summer vacation looks like a place only to see them and relax. When we grow up it is hard to see the same place in the same way. When we are young we thing in a different way, we care about different things. As adults we have more responsibilities, we have to think about different issues or maybe we are working or studying. Our perspectives cannot be the same.
